What is banking malware?

Banking malware is a malicious code category that includes many attack types—like ATS attacks, keyloggers, form grabbers, and mobile banking trojans.

This type of malware is malicious software designed to steal financial information or money from online banking users. It targets credentials, intercepts transactions, and sometimes hijacks entire banking sessions. Common tactics include logging keystrokes, capturing form data, or using Automated Transfer Systems (ATS) to silently move funds. Some variants can bypass two-factor authentication or spoof banking apps on mobile devices. Banking malware is often spread through phishing emails, fake apps, or malicious websites, and it’s a major tool used by cybercriminals to commit financial fraud.
