What is an Automated Transfer System (ATS) attack?

An Automated Transfer System (ATS) attack is a type of banking malware that automatically initiates and completes fraudulent money transfers from a victim’s account—without their knowledge. Once the malware infects a device, it can hijack online banking sessions, bypass two-factor authentication, and mimic legitimate user actions in real time. Unlike traditional banking trojans that wait for user input, ATS malware takes full control, making the theft faster and harder to detect. It’s commonly used by cybercriminals targeting high-value bank accounts, especially in corporate or financial environments.
