What is a malicious APK?

A malicious APK is an Android app file (.apk) that’s designed to harm your device or steal your data. It might look like a normal app, but once installed, it can spy on you, steal passwords, send premium-rate texts, or take control of your phone. These APKs are often distributed outside the official Google Play Store, through sketchy websites, third-party app stores, or phishing links. To avoid them, stick to trusted sources, keep your device updated, and be cautious about what permissions apps ask for.
