Uninstall Norton On macOS (Mac computers)

To uninstall your Norton device security product on macOS, you’ll need administrator access to your Mac. This is the same username and password you normally use to sign in.

Note: Norton recommends keeping the software installed for continuous protection. Only uninstall if you no longer want the product on this device.

Before You Start

  • Make sure all Norton apps are closed before uninstalling.
  • Log in to your Mac using an administrator account.

Steps to Uninstall Norton on Mac

  1. In the Apple menu bar, click Go > Applications.
  2. Scroll down and double-click Norton Uninstaller.
  3. When the Norton Uninstaller window opens, click Continue.
  4. If prompted, enter your Mac administrator password, then click Install Helper.
  5. Wait while the uninstaller removes the Norton software from your Mac.
  6. When prompted again, enter your administrator password and click OK.
  7. When you see the confirmation message, click Finish.
Optionally, you can click Continue to complete the uninstall survey.

After Uninstalling

  • If this Mac counted toward your subscription limit, you may want to sign in to your Norton account and remove the device to free up a license.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Always restart your Mac after uninstalling if you plan to install another security app.

iOS (iPhone & iPad)

Remove Norton App

  1. From the home screen, tap and hold the Norton app icon.
  2. Tap Remove App / Delete App.
  3. Confirm deletion.

Tip: iOS does not allow “deep uninstall” tools, so removing the app via the home screen is the only method needed.

Remove Device from Norton Account (optional)
If you want to free up your license:

  1. Log into your Norton account on the web.
  2. Go to your Devices list.
  3. Remove the iOS device to free the license for another device.

Extra Tips & Troubleshooting

  • Leftover Files: If normal uninstall doesn’t fully remove Norton traces, use the Norton Remove & Reinstall tool on Windows, or manually delete Norton-related files on Mac.
  • License Cleanup: Removing the software from a device doesn’t always free your subscription limit; remove the device from your Norton account if needed.
  • Mobile Simplified: For iOS and Android, the native OS app deletion is the standard removal method.
