Stop my Norton VPN blocking a website

Sometimes Norton VPN may block access to a specific website or web content. Learn how to fix problem accessing a specific website when connected to Norton VPN.

Learn why media streaming services or apps do not work when connected to Norton Secure VPN

Some streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and Showtime, offer geo-restricted content that makes it unavailable in certain regions. These services also block the content if they detect a VPN, a proxy, or an unblocking service as a method to bypass the geo-restrictions.

To fix this problem, try connecting to a different VPN region.

CONNECT TO A DIFFERENT VPN REGION

Norton Secure VPN app on Windows or Mac

  1. Open the Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.
  2. In the VPN region, select a different geographic region from the drop-down list.

Norton 360 on Windows or Mac

  1. Open your Norton device security product.
  2. In the My Norton window, click the drop-down arrow next to Secure VPN and click VPN region.
  3. In the VPN regions window, select a different geographic region from the list.

Norton Secure VPN app on Android or iOS

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.
  2. Tap the location icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. In the Regions screen, select a different geographic region from the list.

You may also try accessing the website using a different browser. If the issue persists, then you may have to temporarily unblock Ad tracker to visit the website.

UNBLOCK AD-TRACKER FEATURE

Norton Secure VPN app on Windows or Mac

  1. Open the Norton Secure VPN app on your desktop.
    • Depending on your operating system, do one of the following:
    • Windows: Click the Settings icon at the top of the Norton Secure VPN app and click Ad Tracker Blocking.
  2. Mac: Click the User-added image icon on the left-side of the Norton Secure VPN app.
  3. Under Ad Tracker Blocking, slide Block Ad Trackers to disable Ad Trackers.

Norton 360 on Windows or Mac

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.
    In the My Norton window, click the drop-down arrow next to Secure VPN, and click Ad Tracking.
  2. Click the Ad Tracking tab and slide Block Ad Trackers to disable Ad Trackers.

Norton Secure VPN app on Android or iOS

  1. Open Norton Secure VPN.
  2. Tap the Ad Tracker icon at the bottom of the screen.
  3. In the Ad Tracker screen, slide Block Ad Trackers to disable Ad Trackers
    Hint: Ad Tracker blocking works only when Virtual Private Network is turned on.
