Yes, Norton 360 can scan your external hard drive (hard disk). Scanning it for the first time can be longer. Later on, Norton will only scan the new and changed files.
By default, all drives are automatically included in scans, but they have to be online.
Manual Scan from Windows Explorer
If you want to scan a specific drive manually, you can do it from your Windows Explorer. Just right click on the drive you want to scan, select Norton 360, and then click onto Scan Now.
Configuring Custom Scan
- Start Norton.If you see the My Norton window, next to Device Security, click .
- In the Norton main window, double-click , and then click .
- In the Scans window, under Scans and Tasks, click .
- Click .
- In the Scans window, do one of the following:
- To scan specific drives, click next to Drive Scan, select the drives that you want to scan, and then click .
- To scan specific folders, click next to Folder Scan, select the folders that you want to scan, and then click .
- To scan specific files, click next to File Scan, select the files that you want to scan, and then click . You can also press , and select multiple files to scan.
- In the Results Summary window, click .If any items require attention, review them and take the recommended action.
