Too Much Information Shouldn’t Be Shared<\/b><\/p>\n

Have you ever heard of the acronym TMI? On Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media outlet, it’s too easy to share too much information<\/em>. Though you’re not completely anonymous, sometimes it feels like you are. This makes some people forget that they’re actually talking to others when they post crazy things. Don’t talk about your bathroom problems or the details of your bedroom life. Honestly, no one wants to read those things.<\/p>\n

Ok, we get it. Your kid is adorable, your cat sits in cute spots, and your dog makes strange faces. You don’t need to put up hundreds of pictures, flooding the feed of your friends and family. A few pictures here and there are great, but if you’re constantly adding pictures, and that’s all you do, you’re going to irritate everyone on your friends list.<\/p>\n

Hashtags are great. They create a way to search for different things going on in the world through your social media accounts. Facebook has recently added support for hashtags, making them even more relevant. However, this also means that more people are using them. When you overuse hashtags, your posts become unreadable and frustrating. If you really want your social sharing to look like your spamming your friends, go ahead and hashtag everything.<\/p>\n

Keep Personal Information Private<\/b><\/p>\n

It’s important that you keep your personal information private. The more you share, the more you open yourself up to attack. Social media is a great place for people to go to gather information to steal your identity. If you want to keep your identity safe, share as little info as possible. This means never give out your phone number, address, or social security number over social media such as Facebook or Twitter.<\/p>\n

Vaguebooking is Vague<\/b><\/p>\n

It’s easy to fall into a pattern of posting vague status updates. However, this is one of the most frustrating things that people do on Facebook. In fact, when asked about the most annoying kind of updates, 24 percent of people <\/a> say that these “vaguebook” posts are the most frustrating and irritating. So, if you’re constantly posting things like “Well, that was frustrating” with no other information, you’re guilty of vaguebooking. If you want to follow good social media etiquette, cut out the vague posts and make sure that they’re relevant and have a point.<\/p>\n

When you’re on social media, you need to make sure that you’re following good etiquette. Just like in the real world, you’re interacting with real people when you’re online. Because of this, you need to make sure that everything you do reflects this and your understanding of social interactions.<\/p>\n
