On their own, they might look like a normal app\u2014like a flashlight, game, or utility\u2014but once installed, they \u201cdrop\u201d or download additional malicious payloads onto the device. This could be <a href=\"\/security-center\/spyware.html\">spyware<\/a>, <a href=\"\/security-center\/trojans.html\">banking trojans<\/a>, <a href=\"\/security-center\/ransomware.html\">ransomware<\/a>, or other threats. Droppers are often used to bypass app store security by hiding the real malware until after installation.
