Identity Safe data can be exported for data recovery, security purposes, or when you want to transfer it to a new PC. The files with saved data are with the .DAT extension. Those files can be protected with a password (recommended). This password is needed when the data is restored from Identity Safe backup file.
\nFirst, you need to export the data:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. In Norton 360, select Manage Identity Protection<\/em> in Identity section.<\/em><\/li>\n
  2. Under Identity Safe<\/em>, in the Export Data<\/em> row, click Configure<\/em>.<\/li>\n
  3. In the Export Identity Safe Data<\/em> window, select the File Format<\/em>. Here, you have a choice between Identity Safe Backup Format<\/strong> and Plain Text<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. Select the location where you want your file to be saved, type the name, type and confirm the password (if you want the password protection).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Once you get to your new installation of Norton 360, being that you reinstalled it on the same computer, or you did it on another one, you have to restore the Identity Safe data from your backup. When importing<\/strong>, you have a choice between Merge<\/strong> with existing data and Replace<\/strong> existing data. Merge is always a safer way of doing it as you can delete single entries at the later time.
    \nNow, you’re ready to import your data:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. In Norton 360, select Manage Identity Protection<\/em> in Identity section.<\/em><\/li>\n
    2. Under Identity Safe<\/em>, in the Import Data<\/em> row, click Configure<\/em>.<\/li>\n
    3. In the Import Identity Safe Data<\/em> window, under Import my data from<\/em>, select the option of your backup Identity Safe file location. This can be Portable Profile<\/strong> (external drive with a portable profile), Local Profile<\/strong> (import the data from your local vault to online vault \u2013 must be logged into your online vault), or Backup File<\/strong> (browse to the location of your backup file).<\/li>\n
    4. Enter password if needed.<\/li>\n
    5. Select between Merge with existing data<\/strong> and Replace existing data<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
